California Assembly Approves Gender Neutral Marriage Bill
Yesterday (September 6, 2005), the California Assembly approved the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act, previously passed by the California Senate, which provides for a gender-neutral definition of marriage. AB 849.
The bill now goes to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger for approval or veto. There is no clear indication on what action he will take. There is, however, insufficient votes to overturn a veto.
