RPPT eReport
According to ABA, Real Property Section unveils new online publication, Dec. 2006:
A new bimonthly publication created by the Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law provides lawyers with the latest in those fields of law. Debuting in October, the RPPT eReport includes in-depth articles, section group and committee news, news on hot continuing legal education programs, and special focused information for groups such as young lawyers and law students.
Among the news featured in the inaugural newsletter is an overview of items of special interest to estate planners about the new Pension Protection Act of 2006. Information includes the application for, and requirements of, charitable contributions of individual retirement accounts in 2006-2007; as well as a summation of charitable contribution reforms made in the new law.
A second article focuses on curtailing the detrimental effects of identity theft, including detailed information about interacting with the credit bureaus, Equifax, Experian and TransUnion Corp. New proposed “red flag rules” require financial institutions and creditors to have a written program based upon the risk assessments of the financial institution or creditors that includes controls to address the theft risks identified. The rules were published in the Federal Register in July of this year.
Finally, a “Technology” feature addresses such topics as computer data back-ups. The RPPT eReport is available to members and non-members alike.
