Compensation for Donating Bone Marrow?

Organ donorA lawsuit challenging the ban on compensating bone marrow donors has been filed in federal court. Proponents of a pilot program that would compensate marrow donors argue that bone marrow donation is more like sperm or blood donation, which is not included in the ban on donation compensation, because the bone marrow grows back after donation.  The National Marrow Donor Program has expressed a fear that compensation would compel donors to withhold important safety information and compromise the safety of the donor program.
