Thandi Maqubela Cross-Examined During Her Murder Trial
On April 18th, the cross-examination of Thandi Maqubelaended in the Western Cape Town High Court in South Africa.
Thandi Maqubela has pleaded not guilty to the alleged murderof her husband, acting judge Patrick Maqubela. She and business associate Vela Mabena allegedly suffocated the judge withplastic cling-wrap in June 2009.
Thandi is also charged with fraud for allegedly forging herhusband’s signature on a will naming her the main beneficiary. She told the court she found the will in acarton months after her husband’s death, but the prosecutor claims the judgedied intestate. The estate is wortharound 20 million South African Rands.
