Guardianship Basics
Recently, Cormac McEnery wrote an article about guardianshipbasics entitled What is Guardianship? The articleexplains when an individual does not have the capacity to care for his or herchild a guardian is needed. A guardian is a person appointed by the court thatis granted the same legal authority as a parent. A court can also grant apetition to a party seeking to become a guardian. The court first determineswhat the child’s best interest is, and will then grant the guardianshipaccordingly. Additionally, a parent can identify a guardian is in his or herwill.
