Show Uncovers Texas Man Who Inherited Bonnie and Clyde Guns

Bonnie and Clyde

While some people inherit a home, jewelry or an autographed baseball, Earl Davis inherited two guns Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow had on them when police in Louisiana shot them to death.

A show on Mr. Davis aired Monday night on the Fox Business Network as part of the new reality series, Strange Inheritance.  This episode looked at how Davis inherited these guns, and how he worked with Bobby Livingston of RR Auction in New Hampshire to sell them.  Livingston soon discovered the serial number on Parker’s Colt .38 had been removed, making it illegal to own or sell the gun.

Rather than confiscate the gun deemed as a historical artifact, Davis and Livingston appealed to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the gun was re-stamped with a serial number.

Parker’s gun was later sold for more than $260,000 and Barrow’s for $240,000.
