Will Cryonics Lead To Resurrection?
Cryonics is the process by which a body or brain is saved until a time when the ailment is cured or the memories of the person can be retrieved and preserved. While this process remains firmly in the realm of science fiction, it has gained a following among those with hopes to beat the reaper by any means possible. But when the person dying is young and otherwise healthy, the desire to do anything to allow some dreams of a future alive will grow bright. That is the case of Kim Suozzi, a young women who was stricken by cancer and, before her death, raised money online to pay for cryonics. In an engrossing New York Times piece, her journey to survive by any means is expressed and gives insight into the thought process of a human being facing mortality at an age when most are still grasping for their adult dignity. While I cannot say if her final wish will ever be within the reach of technology, her story may serve as inspiration to keep fighting against all odds and that hope, however small, can allow one to persevere even in the most dire of circumstances.
