A San Antonio probate judge is set to finalize the settlement agreement between billionaire Tom Benson and his daughter Renee. This ratification will bring to a close one of the three battles between the Benson’s and settle the dispute over who controls the car dealerships, and other assets, that forms the core of the family’s fortune. The case has been ongoing for over a year and saw Tom replaced as trustee in favor of a noted art attorney and former San Antonio mayor at one point. The details of the settlement have not been disclosed but the agreement is expected to bring a close to the dispute over the Texas based assets. However, two cases continue in Louisiana with one on appeal from a lower court that ruled Benson competent to manage his own affairs and the other a suit over nonvoting shares in the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans.
