104-Year-Old Australian Scientist to Fly to Switzerland to Die
Botanist and ecologist David Goodall will fly to Switzerland on May 10th for medical euthanasia. Physician-assisted suicide is illegal in Goodall’s home country of Australia, but a small number of European nations and American states have allowed some form of it. Switzerland’s form of medically-assisted suicide is open to everyone as long as they meet “certain criteria.”
Goodall’s states the reason for his end-of-life choice is that he regrets living as long as he has. He claims that his quality of life is deteriorating and making him unhappy.
