Inheritances Might Not Be Helping Much With Retirement
According to a recent study put out by the Center for Retirement Research at Boston College, found that inheritances will likely have a minimal impact on most household’s preparedness for retirement. The study examined data from the National Retirement Risk Index (NRRI), as well as the Federal Reserve’s Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF). They measured how adequately Americans are prepared for retirement by comparing projections of how much money people have saved up to how much they would need. The study found that inheritance will only have a modest impact because many households do not receive any inheritance and the ones that do are often already prepared for retirement. Households in every income level are stressed out about being prepared for retirement.
