Vanderbilt Heirs Challenge Guardians Of Former Family Estate

The Vanderbilt name is one of the most famous in American history with members of the family gaining prominence in almost every field. Their palatial summer home, The Breakers, is equally famous and is one of the most visited historical sites in Rhode Island. However, the family has taken offense to the manner in which the Preservation Society of Newport has managed the property and want changes made. The main debate is over a proposed visitors center to be built on a empty part of the estate which members of the family claim would diminish the appearance of the grounds. The Preservation Society has not issued a statement in response to the allegations.
