UAE Expats Should Make Will
According to the Government of Dubai, UAE courts will adhereto Sharia regarding inheritance when there is no will in place.
This serves as a warning to expatriates to make a will orface the consequences of Sharia, which many expats are unaware of.
Under Sharia, if the deceased has no sons, the parents andsiblings will receive a larger share even if assets are shared between ahusband and wife. Wives that havechildren are entitled to only one-eighth of the estate if there is no will inplace. Also, sons receive double whatdaughters receive.
