Pro-Athletes Pledge to Donate Brains After Death

Brain in a jar New England Revolution forward Taylor Twellman has volunteered himself for a Boston University medical school program that aims to better understand the long-term effects of repeated concussions. Twellman, who has had seven diagnosed concussions, will undergo annual tests and will donate his brain after death.

Twellman is one of 300 athletes who have volunteered for the program in the last two years. So far, the volunteers consist primarily of hockey players, football players, and pro wrestlers.

Through this program, researchers aspire to better understand CTE, a disease associated with depression and control issues in NFL players who have suffered concussions.

Special thanks to David S. Luber (attorney, Hollywood, FL) for bringing this to my attention.
