The future of succession law

Gallanis

Thomas P. Gallanis (Julius E. Davis Chair in Law; Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development, University of Minnesota School of Law) has recently published his article entitled Frontiers of Succession, 43 Real Prop., Tr. & Est. L.J. 419 (2009).

Here is a summary of his article:

This Article was prepared for a symposium on the Law of Succession in the Twenty-First Century. The author uses the frontier as a metaphor in examining cutting-edge issues in the law of succession. The Article examines three frontiers of succession: geography, biology, and procedure, drawing examples from the changing American family. The author concludes that, by examining succession law at the frontier, one can see the law is actively adapting as it confronts new fact patterns. The law of succession may be entering its most dynamic century.
