Scam targets law professors

ScamScams are all too common and try to take advantage of the unsophisticated.  The latest scam message I received is targeted at law professors and attempts to take advantage of both their egos and desire for fortune.

Here is the message I recently received:

Dear Gerry W. Beyer 
   

Congratulations you won the jackpot prize of the most outstanding Professor and more especially your scholarly and practice-orientated publications.
   

You have emerged the Jackpot winner of this years Artmam’s outstanding Professor at the randomly handpicked tickets compiled by our team of organizers and as result you have won the sum of Five hundred thousand US Dollars only, with a winning ticket of  Edupromo2009/ G.W. Beyer/ADM.001org.html.  Please quote this in all correspondences and keep strictly confidential, do not reveal this to any unauthorized persons for security reasons.

A local Representative has been asked to contact you at your phone # 806 742-3990, ext. 302 but it turned out to be University’s number advising the caller to call during working hours.
