Screenshot 2024-11-11 at 5.51.53 PMCharles Barkley, former NBA star and now a popular basketball analyst, began his career with the Philadelphia 76ers but moved to Phoenix in 1993 when he joined the Suns. He has lived in the Phoenix area ever since, becoming deeply attached to the city. Now 61, Barkley has focused on his health and revealed plans for his final wishes, expressing his desire to be cremated with ashes spread in Phoenix, Alabama (where he’s originally from), and at a casino in Las Vegas.

In addition to his time in the NBA, Barkley has become well-known for his role on TNT’s Inside the NBA program, where he’s spent over two decades as one of the show’s leading voices. Despite his on-screen success, he has faced challenges with gambling, having lost approximately $25 million over his lifetime. Barkley has acknowledged his struggles with gambling, sharing that while he has won millions at times, he has lost even more, prompting him to change his mindset about the risks.

Recently, Barkley disclosed details of his lucrative contract with TNT, valued at $210 million, shortly after Warner Bros. Discovery, TNT’s parent company, was unable to secure part of a massive $76 billion NBA media rights deal. Although he briefly considered retirement, he ultimately decided to remain with TNT for the 2024-25 season, showing his dedication to the network and to basketball fans across the country.
