Consumer Reports & Living Wills

A three-step approach to advance directives is set forth in You Need to Know — Living Wills, Consumer Reports, June 2005, at 7:

  1. Write a living will and name a health care proxy.
  2. Cover access to records.  (HIPAA authorizations)
  3. Keep documents easily accessible.  (including a discussion of the U.S. Living Will Registry, a free service which stores living wills and other disability planning documents online)
