New Colorado Legislation

The Colorado legislature has passed a number of new laws thispast session. First, Colorado defines and authorizes a category of persons toassist individuals who lack sufficient decisional capacity in making healthcare benefit decisions for public or private benefits programs and to file anynecessary appeals on their behalf. 2006Colo. Sess. Laws ch. 190.

Further, Colorado has modernized laws addressing a person’sright to control the disposition of remains and anatomical gifts. 2006Colo. Sess. Laws ch. 196.

Finally, Colorado has revised procedures regarding claimsagainst the estate of a decedent. 2006Colo. Sess. Laws ch. 114.
