Suicide as Will Writing Motivator
I just received a brochure from the Texas Tech University Student Counseling Center listing the signs of suicidal thinking. Number four on the list (even before buying a gun or obtaining drugs) is making out a will.
Thus, it seems that estate planners should be alert to the fact that a client may have decided to write a will because of an anticipated self-termination. If other facts support a conclusion that the client has suicidal tendencies, appropriate steps should be taken.
