Like many Americans, Floridiansinvest significantly in beneficiary-designated nonprobate estate planning toolssuch as life insurance. These types of assets comprise the bulk of manyFloridians’ estate plans because they are easy to obtain and, in manyinstances, affordable compared to other estate planning tools. It is importantto effectuate the policyholder’s intent, particularly because so many familiestrust that these assets will provide some degree of security. Enacting adivorce revocation statute to protect nonprobate assets will provide protectionand security for many Florida families.
