Jack Whittaker Update

WhittakerEarlier on this blog, I reported on lottery winner Jack Whittaker and the problems that befell him after winning over $300 million in 2002.

The following are the highlights from a recent interview reported in AP, Powerball winner Jack Whittaker answers questions about the jackpot, his troubles, SignOnSanDiego.com, Sept. 13, 2007:

  • Mr. Whittaker continues to play the lottery, sometimes buying $100 worth of tickets at one time.
  • He advises lottery winners not to give money away because once you start, people deem you an “easy touch” and pester you relentlessly for money.
  • He uses part of his windfall to finance people who purchase cars and homes from his businesses.
  • He does not enjoy going out because of the public recognition.
