E. James Gamble Dies
It is with great sadness that I report that E. James Gamble, an outstanding scholar, an excellent attorney, and an active member of the legal community, unexpectedly passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2007.
Jim Gamble was a partner with Gamble & Joswick LLP. He was also the principal draftsman of the Uniform Principal and Income Act (1997) and authored a book on the 1962 Revised Uniform Principal and Income Act. He was a member of the advisory committees for the revision of the Restatement of the Law of Trusts and the Restatement of the Law of Property – Wills and Other Donative Transfers. He was a member and past president of the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and of the Financial and Estate Planning Council of Detroit, and was a member of the American College of Tax Counsel and of the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law and its executive council. He was listed in “The Best Lawyers in America” in the categories of Trusts and Estates Law and Tax Law and was a frequent speaker and writer on taxation and estate planning issues.
