Disposition of Remains
James T.R. Jones (Professor of Law, Louis D. Brandeis School of Law) has written a new article entitled Body, Body, Who Gets the Body? The Resolution of Bodily Remains Cases.
Here is a summary of the article:
The article gives a brief history of the disposition of bodies, from Roman and Greek to today. It discusses some of the customs from then and today, and what it took for the wishes of the decedent to be carried out. The author discusses some of the more recent cases involving disputes over bodily remains and famous people such as Anna Nicole Smith and James Brown.
