Here is the editors’ synopsis of this article:

This article provides an in-depth and detailed analysis of the principles advanced by taxpayer and I.R.S. experts in twelve cases valuing family limited partnerships and closely-held corporations. Also considered are the Tax Court’s and one district court’s approaches in utilizing or disregarding the analyses of the litigants’ experts in determining the value of partnership interests and corporate stock.
