Purple DNRs — Resuscitation Orders in Kentucky
Prompted by a small but concerning number of resuscitation order violations, a group of advocates, state officials, and nursing home representatives in Kentucky are working to make these orders more effective for nursing home residents. One proposed solution is a purple wristbandworn by residents who have executed a resuscitation order. Purple wristbands are already recognized by some hospitals as a signal that the individual does not want extraordinary steps taken to save their life.
