More on Jack Kerouac’s Estate
I previously wrote about the estate of beat generation author Jack Kerouac. Recent articles provide some additional information about the estate.
- When Kerouac died, his estate was valued at less than $30,000.
- Recently, one of the author’s raincoats sold for over $10,000, and one of the author’s unfinished manuscripts sold for over $2 million.
- The judge who recently declared fake the will that left everything to Kerouc’s third wife also presided over the Teri Schaivo case.
- A misspelled signature on the will of Kerouac’s mother, who originally inherited Kerouac’s estate, began the lawsuit that recently invalidated her will and calls into question the subsequent successions.
- When drafting his will, Kerouac stated that he wanted his estate to pass to his mother or his nephew Paul.
- Further litigation will likely be required to determine if Paul, who is still living, is entitled to anything.
