New Jersey Same-Sex Marriage Bill Defeated in the Senate
Last week the New Jersey Senate defeated a bill that would have legalized same-sex marriage in the state. Proponents hoped to get the bill to Governor Jon Corzine, who supported the bill, before the state’s new governor, who opposes same-sex marriage, takes office.
New Jersey law already provides civil union protections to same-sex couples.
