UK Leaders Drop Flat Tax On Death

Death tax

I previously reported that some political leaders in the United Kingdom were considering a flat tax on death, possibly as much as £20,000 a death, to fund elderly care programs.

The Telegraph reports that leaders are no longer considering such a tax, citing to fears of lost votes in an upcoming election.

See Rosa Prince, Death tax to pay for elderly care is scrapped, Telegraph.co.uk, March 29, 2010.

Special thanks to Joel Dobris (Professor of Law, UC Davis School of Law) for bringing this to my attention.
