Law and Order recently featured an episode entitled “The Tax Man Cometh.” According to the blog All Things Law and Order, this episode “was a slightly twisty and meandering case that went from what looked like one murder to another death of a member of the same family, a death that was orchestrated to coincide with making the best of an inheritance tax loophole.” That loophole would be the temporary estate tax repeal of 2010. Furthermore, the heir of the patient whose death was orchestrated was in a lesbian relationship and had adopted her partner so that her partner would gain inheritance rights.
