Woman Drives Around with Corpse for 10 Months

An Orange County driver allowed a homeless woman to sleep in her car.  When she found the woman dead the next day, she was too afraid to go to the police. She drove around with the corpse in her car for approximately 10 months before getting caught, using baking soda to mask the odor.

The police discovered the body while responding to an illegal parking report. Upon smelling a foul odor and seeing a leg hidden under pieces of clothing, they broke a window to get in. Medical examiners hydrated the fingers of the corpse for identification, but aren’t releasing the name until next-of-kin are notified. There are no signs of foul play, but authorities are still considering whether any charges will be filed against the driver.
