Canadian Couple Gives Away Lottery Winnings
Allen and Violet Large, a retired Canadian couple, won over $11 million in the lottery in July. After receiving phone calls from people asking for money and realizing that crooked people would try to take advantage of them, the couple decided to donate their winnings. In a matter of four months, they gave nearly all of their money away to the Red Cross, the Salvation Army, local churches, and the hospital where Violate was fighting cancer this year.
Allen said that he was more concerned with Violet’s health than with the money. “That money that we won was nothing,” he said. “We have each other.”
