Attorney Trades Estate Planning for Business Guarding Against Sweat Stains and Flatulence

SubtleButtKim Olenicoff’s estate planning practice in California has slowed down the past couple of years, but her former sideline business, Solutions That Stick, has not. Her company now sells almost two dozen products nationwide with names like Garment Guard and Subtle Butt.

Olenicoff began making Garment Guards, disposable shields that stick to the inside of a shirt and absorb the yellow, for her friends while she was finishing law school at the University of Southern California. Subtle Butt, a disposable body-gas neutralizer, recently surpassed Garment Guard sales at more than 10,000 units.

“People say, ‘Aren’t you the girl that makes fart pads?’ ” Olenicoff laughs. “I have a law degree, and I spend most of my day dealing with sweat, farts and boobs. You never know where life is going to take you.”
