Costco Employees Win Over $200 Million in Lottery

Article-1177568-04CF8425000005DC-60_634x590 About twenty employees of a Costco in Long Island purchased lottery tickets together and won the near $202 million Powerball jackpot. The winning numbers were 8, 18, 38, 46, and 56; 31 was the winning Powerball number.

The employees were front-end workers and cashiers at the Costco, and many of them did not realize they had won until they came to work on Thursday. Though the winners’ names have not been publicized, one individual quit his job upon hearing about the win.

Sam Patel and Pat Desai sold the winning lottery tickets from their Maulik & Chandni stationery store. Patel and Desai will receive $10,000 for selling the tickets. The stationery store has sold a $90,000 and a $1 million winning ticket in the past.

The odds of winning the near $202 million Powerball jackpot were one in 195 million.
