Woman Still Using Bank Account From 1913
June Gregg recently turned 100 years old, and her bank account has been around for almost as long. Gregg’s father opened the bank account with Savings Bank back in 1913 when Gregg was only a year and half old. At that time, Gregg’s father made an initial deposit of $6.11.
Upon hearing about the almost 100 year old bank account, Gregg’s bank, now a Huntington National Branch bank, discovered that Gregg’s account number had only changed once during it’s 100 years, when Huntington National Bank acquired Savings Bank in the early 1980’s.
Hunting National Bank recently celebrated Gregg’s 100th birthday with her, complete with a birthday cake. The bank has told Gregg that it will, as a gift, increase her interest rate to about five percent for the next 100 days.
