Attorney Steals $300,000 From Friend’s Estate

Malpractice Leslie Scott McAfee, an attorney in Valencia, California, was charged with stealing over $300,000 in art, jewelry, and guns from a deceased friend’s estate. The friend died in March 2010, and a beneficiary listed in the friend’s will contacted police after receiving nothing of the estate. Prosecutors claim McAfee tried, unsuccessfully, to appoint himself executor of the friend’s estate.

McAfee has been charged with six counts of perjury (for claiming to be the executor of the estate), one count of forgery, thirty-five counts of grand theft of a firearm, and four counts of grand theft. McAfee could face up to thirty-seven years in prison if convicted.
