Police Believe a Mother Missing for 41 Years is Alive in Florida
In 1970, amid a family feud, Lula Cora Hood disappeared. Hood suffered from mental health problems and was the mother of fourteen children. The children did not hear from their mother for over twenty-years.
Then, in 1996, police alerted the family to human remains they believed to be Hood. The remains were found in a brickyard, and Hood’s family buried the remains, believing it was Hood.
Thirteen years later, in 2009, the family ordered a DNA test of the remains. The test revealed that the remains were not Hood. The police reopened the case and eventually found the eighty-four year old Hood alive in Florida. The police do not have any leads on the remains found in the brickyard.
