Photo Brings Joy to Deceased Soldier’s Widow and Friend
Frank Glick, an armature photographer, was driving through Fort Snelling National Cemetery when he snapped a photo of an eagle perched on one of the many tombstones in the cemetery. Glick’s friend suggested giving a copy of the photo to the family of the soldier whose tombstone the eagle landed on.
After some research, Glick discovered the tombstone belonged to Sgt. Maurice “Maurie” Ruch. Sgt. Ruch’s widow, Vivian Ruch, and his friend, Jack Kiefner, were overjoyed to receive the symbolic picture. After receiving the photo, Kiefner said, “the eagle couldn’t have picked a better person.”
