Britney Spears’ Conservatorship

Britney Spears’ father, James Spears, has acted as her conservator since 2008. Though the appointment seems to have fared well for Ms. Spears concerning litigation with company called Brand Sense Partners (the company was unable to take Spears’ deposition or obtain her medical records), it could prevent her from making any important life changes.

For example, Spears has been dating her current boyfriend for years, though the two cannot marry without her father’s permission. Spears’ current concert tour ends in 2012, and her father is considering stepping aside as her conservator at that time.
