This paper explores the origins of the health care directive and related advance directives (including Medical Powers of Attorney, Mental Health Directives, Ethical Wills, Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment, Death With Dignity Directives and Tissue and Organ Donation Directives), the religious perspectives on a wide range of religious faiths, objections to the health care directive, and forms that can be adapted for a variety of faiths.
