Crematorium Used to Heat Swimming Pool

The leader of the House of Commons, Sir George Young, called the plan to use heat from a crematorium to warm a Worcestershire leisure centre pool a “groundbreaking scheme.” According to Sir George Young, the Government is evaluating whether similar schemes can be used in other areas in Britain.

Redditch Borough Council has already begun the project and anticipates it will be completed this spring. The Council will be the first authority in Britain to heat a pool using a crematorium, and it has already won an award from the Green Organisation for its efforts.
