What Will Your Funeral Be Like?

FuneralIn his recent Forbes article, Mike Myatt asks the tough question of “who will be crying at your funeral.” Myatt details funerals during which the eulogist, priest, and those in attendance attempt to make the decedent’s life more than it was. Myatt explains that these funerals end up becoming a mourning of the life that could have been instead of a mourning of the life that was.

On the other end of the spectrum, however, are those funerals during which everyone in attendance celebrates the life of an amazing individual who lived his or her life to the fullest. Myatt recounts a funeral of a twenty-three year old man and the inspirational stories told about the young man who died too soon.

Myatt ends his article by asking the reader to consider what his or her funeral will look like. Myatt empowers the reader, reminding us all that we have the ability to make our lives something that will be celebrated by those who remain behind.
