Hundreds of Danes’ Have Lottery Sorrow
Three hundred and two Danes believed they won between 1 billion and 280 billion Danish crowns (up to $49.7 billion) in last Tuesday’s Danish lottery jackpot. Moments later, however, Danske Spil, the state lottery company, emailed the 302 winners, informing them that the amounts won were misquoted. The company blamed the mistake on “human error.” The correct winnings ranged from 200 to 400 Danish crowns (around $35 to $70), but the lottery company is considering increasing the prizes in way of compensation.
