Lawsuit Against Johns Hopkins University

Unknown-1John Timothy Newell brought a suit against the Johns Hopkins University alleging that the university’s new plan to develop a 138-acre Belward farm violates the restrictions that were in the contract that transferred ownership to the University. Elizabeth Beall Banks lived on the farm and transferred the ownership to the university for academic and historical purposes.

The Montgomery County Circuit Court refused to dismiss the lawsuit, and surprisingly, in April, Hopkins filed a motion requesting that the court fast-track the case. The scheduling hearing for John Timothy Newell et.al v. Johns Hopkins University is now set for July 6, 2012.
