As I have previously discussed, it is unlikely that the baby boomers and their decedents will receive as large of an inheritance as previous generations have. However, there are some wealthy parents who will not give money to their children, regardless of their financial situation. Some choose to do so because of principal, in that they believe that their money should go the less fortunate or a noble cause. Others have the desire to teach their children a lesson and to ensure that they become well-educated people.
