Oil Tycoon Disappears; Wife and Mother Fight Over His Fortune

Unknown-4Florida Oil tycoon, Guma Aguiar, is still missing after he was last seen taking his boat out onto rough seas.  His mother and his wife are now fighting over his approximately $100 million estate. Guma made his money when he sold the Texas-based energy company that he ran with his uncle. The company sold for $2.5 billion.

Aguiar’s mother filed a petition asking that the bank take control of his fortune. She cited concerns that Guma’s wife would waste, misappropriate, or lose his fortune. Jamie Aguiar, Guma’s wife, filed counter documents, asking for control of the estate.

An hour before Guma got on his boat, his wife told him that she wanted a divorce. Some speculate that is what pushed him over the edge. Guma’s friends said that he seemed troubled for years, and particularly confused and out of control shortly before he disappeared. Much of his strife can be attributed to the lawsuits that were being brought against him. Some say that his wife was very supportive and only wanted to create a peaceful life for him. Despite thoses efforts, the lawsuits and his work still troubled him.
