Seven Reasons To Have a Will

WillsThere are seven reasons why a person might want to consider drafting a will. Here is the list:

  • If a person has children, that person might want to draft a will so that he or she can nominate someone as a guardian. If a person does not nominate someone as a guardian then it is for the courts to decide where the child will go without any guidance from the parent.
  • A person might want to draft a will if the person is single. The law is established so that it is easy for the surviving spouse to take the property even without a will. However, with a single person, there is some uncertainty about who will receive your property.
  • If a person has any high value property, such as a house, bank account, or car, then that person might want to draft a will.
  • A person might want to consider writing a will to prevent disagreement and conflict among that person’s family members.
  • A person also might want to write a will to have a medical plan should that person become incapacitated or unable to make medical decisions for themselves.
  • A person might want to write a will to reduce the tax on their potential estate.
  • It is important to remember that everyone is mortal and that a person could die today or tomorrow. Therefore, a person might want to be prepared should the unthinkable happen.
