Virginia Re-Codified It’s Laws Governing Estates
In 2009, the State of Virginia began the process of simplifying its estate planning laws to provide more clarity for its citizens and lawyers. The efforts of the Virginia Code Commission finally came to fruition in 2012 when the state legislature passed new legislation that re-codified the laws that govern estates and wills. The law here re-codifies all of the various laws into Title 64.2, but it is important to remember that the re-codification process will not alter the substantive meaning of the law.
There is a list of the new sections that will appear in Title 64.2 from the estateplanninginfoblog.com, and there is more detailed list and explanation of the same Title from the original article by Frank Overton Brown, Jr.
