Family Receives Compensation for Funeral Home Casket Spill
A family in Michigan filed suit against the funeral home that provided the funeral services for their late mother, Ellnora James. The family has reportedly received about $80,000 in compensation because the staff at the funeral home dropped their mother prior to the funeral services. The funeral home, Ivy K. Gillespie Funeral Home, was reportedly moving their mother’s casket when the bottom of the casket broke open and the body of their mother fell through the casket. The incident in question was witnessed by several members of the family. The family was quite upset by the incident and called it disrespectful. The son of James, Dean Libbett stated that he was quite upset that the home was not entirely honest or remorseful with him. He only discovered what had happened when the home called him to ask for new clothes for James. He told WoodTV.com, “there was no respect and there was no dignity and there was no remorse for what happened.”
