Interesting Term of the Day

ImagesAnthropodermic bibliopegy: the practice of binding books in human skin.

This technique started in the 17th century, but is not often used now.  At one time, volumes were created as a bequest and bound with the skin of the testator.  This practice is specifically known as autoanthropodemic bibliopegy.

See Anthropodermic Bibliopegy, Wikipedia (2012).

Special thanks to Kyle M. Jurisch (Texas Tech Law Student) for bringing this term to my attention.
