Post-Nuptial Agreements
An American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers poll indicates that 51% of divorce attorneys report an increase in postnuptial agreements over the last three years. A postnuptial agreement is a voluntary contract between married couples that cover finances, property, assets, children, support and probate.
The president of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers comments that the stigma that used to surround postnuptial agreements is dissipating. In some instances, postnuptial agreemeents are seen as a less offensive alternative to the prenuptial agreement.
